An obsession with designing boats differently

Aaron's interest in yacht design comes from a simple obsession: how can a boat be made better?

After spending time sailing and living aboard small boats, he became fascinated by the compromises built into conventional yachts. He began studying hull shapes, multihulls, stability, weight, accommodation, propulsion and the way boats behave at sea.

Through Krobi Lab's Yacht Design Division, he develops and explores radical yacht concepts that challenge the traditional cruising yacht. The goal isn't to make boats unusual simply for the sake of appearance, but to question whether familiar designs are actually the best solutions.

His designs explore ideas around speed, efficiency, safety, seaworthiness and unconventional layouts, often taking inspiration from racing yachts, multihulls and experimental sailing craft.

Fast. Unusual. Safe. Seaworthy.

The philosophy is deliberately contrarian: don't start with what a yacht has always looked like. Start with what the yacht needs to do, then design from there.

For Aaron, yacht design isn't simply another project. It's a long-term obsession with understanding boats, challenging assumptions and imagining what the next generation of cruising yachts could look like.
